Impact Evaluation

Evaluasi employs cutting-edge impact evaluation techniques with expert awareness of the social, political, and economic environment necessary to program and evaluate.

1. Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs)

In the scientific study of impacts, randomized experiments are the ‘gold standard.’ Like in A/B testing or a medical drug trial, an RCT assigns a program to some participants but not others. Aside from the intervention, the groups are identical, allowing us to isolate the impact of the program on any measurable outcome.

Evaluasi In Action:

Evaluasi worked with a social enterprise in the United States to test the effects of fair trade procurement on livelihoods and incomes for vulnerable women workers in Uganda. By quantifying their impact, the social enterprise could validate the social value of their activities, which was important to their customers.

2. Scientific Measurement and Analytics

To know your impacts, you need systematic and reliable data. That means collecting information from beneficiaries before and after your program. This data could be based on background information that your organization is already collecting or new information collected from surveys or observations of behavior. At Evaluasi, we specialize in collecting, processing and analyzing data using advanced techniques.

Evaluasi In Action:

Recognizing that survey respondents sometimes misrepresent their attitudes or behavior, the Evaluasi team regularly deploys implicit-attitude techniques and compares stated beliefs against observed behavior.

3. Cost-Benefit Analysis for Program Planning

After impact evaluation has determined the relative effects of your programming options, a comprehensive review can determine which option will produce the most positive business outcome per unit of cost.

Evaluasi In Action:

Working in Tanzania, Evaluasi team members assessed the net economic welfare benefits of a randomized cellphone distribution program, finding that it was among the most cost-effective anti-poverty programs available.
